Richard Hamilton has been turning for 4years, starting with just a simple $50 lathe. When he first started he recalls he couldn't believe how much fun it was just to turn a simple candle stick and few solid pieces. His work now consist of primarily of segmented turning. Richard's first award came in July 2003 winning first place in Juried Art Exhibit held Glema Mahr Center for Art in Madisonville Ky.; then in 2004 he got 2nd place in Glema Mahr Center for Art; then at Evansville Museum won one first place in Three Dimensional Award called Working Together in 2004.
